Heh, started the year as a Paramedic. As fast as possible got out of a job I hated. While I'll always be grateful for something that let me pay the bills and work my way through school, I still shudder at how much I hated it there. Took the first EMS job offer that came along, and while doing the weird transport service isn't great, it has it's moments where I like it better than 911. Just wish it was busier.
Joined the Derby Devils and started spending much of my free time chasing fast women.
Broke my leg at the end of March while chasing said women and consequently found out that friends are even more awesome than I previously believed. Breaking leg did 'cause a debt backup and stalled on other plans.
Work put me through Critical Care training so that I could take care of ICU patients. Then dropped the Critical Care job idea... Then switched me to 911 in Arlington, then mostly switched me back with me picking up shifts where I can in Arlington. So I now have way too much knowledge for what I do.
Moved into an awesome apartment that's like a treehouse. I find that I really enjoy just being in it. Still have boxes to unpack though.
Finished the supposed last class of my degree. So now just need to petition to graduate and see if they'll stick to what they told me in class a little over a year ago.
Have really gotten to enjoy the opportunities of my job in seeing people in all walks of life in all sorts of circumstances. The events are also a lot of fun as well.
And work gave me my one year anniversary stuff last week. A couple of weeks early. But with me going on calls as soon as I started school, I've been in EMS for 3 years now. And even with going 3 months without a paycheck, I still made more this last year than I did the year before. O.o And I thought I was gonna take a pay cut when I got into this field. It's all the OT!
So this next year I'm really looking forward to.
